Jerusalem, 1860

You’re in Jerusalem. The year is 1860. The walled city is so crowded that a family lives in a single room. Most of the Jewish families live on charity from abroad. The limited water available is used for cooking, then bathing, and finally for washing the floor. Disease is rampant and most children do not survive to the age of 5. Leaving the walls puts you at risk of bandits and wild animals. An opportunity to live outside the city walls arises; will you take it?
